• संसार अभी आरम्भ ही हुआ था, और पशु मनुष्यों के लिए काम कर रहे थे।
• वहाँ एक आलसी जानवर था जो कुछ नहीं करता था और ‘हँफ’ के अतिरिक्त कुछ नहीं बोलता था।
• शुरू में, जब संसार नया था और जानवरों ने मनुष्यों के लिए काम करना आरम्भ ही किया था, एक ऊँट गुर्राहट जैसी आवाज करते मरुस्थल के मध्य में रहता था, क्योंकि वह काम करना नहीं चाहता था। वह टहनियाँ, काँटे, शूल खाता था और जब कोई भी उससे बोलता था तो वह ‘हँफ’ कहता था। सिर्फ ‘हँफ’ और कुछ नहीं।
